How do I discourage a really persistent man I’ve tried ignoring?

You may "expose" him, telling him you understood he has hopes and intentions of a romantic or sexual outcome masked by friendship, but that this is going nowhere, asking him to stop because he is just smashing himself against a wall, as you won't hang out with him in any case because of all the reasons you don't like him in particular (not because "too busy" and other things that give space for hope in the future, but real reasons). Tell him how his persistence turned you off and broken any possible chance to even get close friends, and how all this translates into you just watching this pitiful scene of a desperate man who is prisoner of his own fantasies, since you didn't contribute in building that scenario at all.

This is more or less what I did with a persistent guy, who stopped for some months then retried, repeating the same exact scenario and result (me telling him again how things are, but the second time he really stopped).

In all this you should never use smiles, emotes, replying fast or use vague answers like "maybe" when you actually mean "no", etc, because they are very attached to any minimal hope and they see things where there aren't, so cut off every positive signal in general, even the ones of being "polite", first of all. Then you can proceed with a direct rejection if being cold won't suffice.
If he gets mad whatever, it will pass and he will survive. Perhaps learning from this feedback, for the next girls he will pursue.

“Fuck off.”


Or if you’d rather be kind


“Kindly fuck off.”


Or just stare at him while straining really hard until he asks you what you’re doing.


Answer: “I’m trying to make your head explode using nothing but my mind.” And strain even harder.


He will never want anything to do with you again.

Tell him directly to leave you alone. Though I assume that if you’re to the point of ignoring him. You have already tried that to no avail.

I think telling him to leave you alone if he doesn’t you will pursue legal criminal and civil charges and protections against him. Then block him on everything you have.

If he keeps trying to find ways to contact you. Follow through on that.
