No worries, this isn't a very big deal. Dating always involves a little bit of hand-holding for both partners. In this case, you knocked him down a peg by making it clear that "what's natural" for him is not behavior you're want to deal with in your relationships. So now, you have to socially guide him over to what you DO find acceptable.
