It depends more on the person than on their gender, but on average I think men are more honest about what they want when talking about their dating preferences.

It's slightly uncomfortable to admit you are going for smooth skin and ample boobs, for example, but many men will admit that. If they want their woman to be loyal, educated or intelligent (or all of these) they can even be honest about it without offending anybody.

For women it is more difficult to honestly express what they want. For example, they may want a guy who sweeps them off their feet and brings lots of drama into their dull existence. That's not so easy to admit. Or a guy who brings them financial stability to afford things and raise a family. Even about the looks some will not be ready to admit what they want.

When talking to their dating partner it is clearly men who lie more leaving women as comparatively more honest. Lying will often be required to get the woman at all.
The situation I was referring to was when talking to friends or other people.

I would say it’s pretty 50/50. Some guys lie about their intentions for an easy lay and some girls lie about being okay with just having fun when deep down they actually want something more serious and vice versa. I think women are more honest about what they want (assuming she even know, and most don't). But most simply do not communicate what they want.

So in the end it's kind of a wash she may know, but she seldom say.

Guys may know. But it's well documented how women will manipulate a man when she knows his motivations. That's why guys are smart to keep his hand hidden until he understands her full intentions.

I think both are honest but women tend to stick more to their standards (unless the girl thinks she can change the guy) while men will temporarily adjust or sit aside their standards if he wants sex sooner than later.

Depends on the woman. If she says "What do you want in a woman" Thats how you tell she's going to be dishonest. she's telling you pretty much up front that she will modify her behavior for a short time to "Be what you want" Until you fall for her. Then months later she will drop the facade.

But here is the rub, Men and women both are just about as dishonest as the other when it comes to dating. Neither gender has a monopoly on dishonesty.
