What do you call people who argue against almost everything you say?

Like if you were to say simply, straightforward “That’s called being a hypocrite.” And they’ll give an obvious response like “We’re all hypocrites.” Like obviously but I’m not talking about “All” people right now and they know that but still felt that need to say it.

I can't say this from an unbiased standpoint because I'm that type of person. But only when it's dangerous for someone to have a certain viewpoint. Otherwise, there will be no point in informing them of a better way of thinking.

But when I do this, it is not my goal to argue. It is my goal to be as accurate to reality as I can. I'm this way because I've seen how surface level ways of thinking can really get in the way. And I feel that when being serious, it's better to not simplify the world in ways that are too broad & inaccurate. Because it's not very productive.

Well I can understand why you sometimes intervene. It’s to make someone become aware of their ignorance. You mean well, you’re not just stating the obvious. You saying something against something wrong is helpful. You don’t want to see someone carrying a poisonous snake, all happy without them being aware of the consequences that come with carrying that poisonous snake. You don’t want to watch them kill and destroy themselves slowly but surely. So I get where you come from and technically you can’t relate to what I specifically described.

Maybe not depending on how the person does it. When I do it, it has a certain innocence about it. And I always invite opposing perspectives. Because even though I feel I'm right, I could be wrong. And I'll never know unless someone tells me.

I don’t see the point in arguing. Another person has his truth. You’d better listen and find his perspective then share yours and if you still disagree. You can just agree to disagree and respect each other regardless.

Yes. Like my cousin and I were talking about spirituality and how we feel that these rappers who are coming out as Muslim’s which is great, seem to be hypocrites because they’re not practicing what they preach. They rap about drugs, money, sex and women and my sister goes “Well we’re all hypocrites.” And then we mentioned how most true Muslims, not all, are living what they’re preaching and my sister comes in, sort of negative and says the obvious again “Everyone isn’t called to preach the word.” Like we’re taking a certain group of people, not everyone and she knows that but just wants to be against what we’re saying in some way shape or form.
