Should I have waited to kiss her?

I've "known" a girl for 10 years. Weird history, and don't want to get into it. Recently, I finally told her i like her, and she had been telling me she did, i was just too naive to realize she was. The other day, I told her I had two surprises for her, one was FOR her, and the other was FOR me, but, wanted to show her (actually the thing I gave her, was also more for me too, but, yeah, lol)

She made a joke about what the surprises might be, and she said "what, you gonna finally try and kiss me/hookup with me". While i wasn't originally, after I gave her her surprise, I said "well, I wasn't originally planning on trying to, but, now that you mention it, why don't we"?

We had never been on a date still haven't. We don't even hang out, so, why we like each other, I don't know.

We did kiss, though, twice. nothing major, just a peck on the lips, for now.

Was it romantic, nah, but, ya know, I think I was just "wanting to get it over with", so, since she had brought it up

What I'm asking is, should I have waited until we went on an actual date?

I think it’s fine. You know you like each other have have known each other for 10 years, so I don’t see a reason why you should wait until after a date to kiss her. From what you said, it sounds like she has been waiting for you to finally make a move and kiss her anyway.

I just always thought it was supposed to be "on a date/after a date", so, I hope doing that, was ok
