She wanted me to kiss her , but I didn't do it?

Long story short , she is a dear female friend of mine whom I have liked for a long time and we used to flirt a bit from time to time nothing too serious though. Anyway she has a boyfriend and I got to the point whe her friendship was too much for me so I have cut contacted to a minimum for a while until my guy friend told me she broken up with her boyfriend so I decided to give her a call.
Last night we met and went to dinner and during the dinner her boyfriend subject came up and apparently they didn't officially break up yet , they barely contact each other anymore so I don't know if it's a relationship or not. So after the dinner I took her to the roof my new apartment and we spent hours talking , by the end of the night I went to the edge of the rooftop to enjoy the view and she followed and her body was literally glued to mine and we continue to talk and she opened up to me a lot , anyway while I was talking she leaned forward to me and wanted to kiss her I wanted to do it so bad yet I couldn't bring myself to... she is still in a relationship and if i kiss her wouldn't that consider as cheating?

Did I do the right thing or no?

I think I am going to disconnect myself from her life for now until she breaks it off , you think this is the the right move?
