Has anyone given up completely on dating?

I have, a while ago. I’m not very handsome, not great at talking to women. Actually I just find it much easier to give up.

Also I would only want to date a girl that’s stunning and really nice. There’s Too much competition for a tiny minority so I have to give up. I can’t date a girl I’m not wowed by.

I used to feel similarly. Turns out though, some of the sweetest candy is wrapped in a less flashy wrapper.


I’ve heard it said that getting married is less about finding the right person so much as it is about becoming the right person. I’d say that the same rule applies to dating.


Are you expecting more out of a dating partner than you’re expecting from yourself?


If you need to, take a break from dating and work on yourself so that the next time the motivation train comes around, you’ll be ready to ask that cute girl on a date, and she’ll have something to be interested in in you beyond physical attraction.


Bees might be attracted to a flower by its petals, but it’s the nectar that they’re really there for. Fancier flowers may get more bee visitors, but even somewhat plainer flowers have nectar to offer, and most bees won’t turn their noses up at that.


You might not be able to change your petals much, but you can up your game on how sweet your nectar is.

Do you ever approach women with the intention of getting to know them or just to date or sleep with them?
You’re talking to another human being, so talking to women isn’t hard. You just don’t know how to talk to people. Get out of that shell of yours and go out there and experience life. Giving up on dating is not gonna go well for someone as young and inexperienced as you are.

Nope. I haven't given up per se. I have put it on hold for right now. I am starting my masters degree in the fall. I just didn't want to get into a relationship and then get overwhelmed with school work and not be able to put in the effort that having a boyfriend or girlfriend takes. So until I get a handle on workload under control it is single Maya.

Criminology. Want to get into the lab and analysis end of it. We'll see. Just starting out in fall.

Since when was a male’s dating life a determinant of his success? If anything it would be an important one for women

No. I just put it in perspective. I'm over 40. Any woman worth being with probably married long ago. I haven't given up. I'm just realistic about the quality of women and thier commitment out there. And while I could have afforded that mistake when I was younger, my assets now are substantial. I'm not going to risk all of what I've built for something cheap and frivolous.
