Will guys have other girls on the side because they’re afraid of getting cheated on?

Caught my boyfriend talking to 5 other girls on the side. It usually around the time that we are fighting. He says he does it when he’s afraid he will lose me. He says he doesn’t want to be alone, and need’s reassurance after feeling rejected by me. He cried a lot, and was very vulnerable. I’m not sure what to think?

He's seeking validation from other women. He is already admitting that it reassures him to know that there are women who might be interested in him after a potential breakup. It seems quite insecure, but I do not think he is planning on cheating. This would be after a breakup only.

During your quarrels, do you often threaten to break up with him or do you even say you are breaking up before taking it back after the quarrel? If so, it would be better to stop that and focus more on the issue you are fighting about.

Maybe you could even reassure him that you want to make it work and that arguments are part of the relationship and not putting the whole relationship in question.

Guys know at best 10% of women find them attractive. As a result dating to guys IS a numbers game. That may want to make a guy hedge his bets by entertaining multiple women. But any (decent) guy with half a brain knows once he's made his choice THERE IS NO OTHER WOMEN.

The fact that you said it happened while you were fighting (YouTube friends "we were on a break"), kind of makes me think you have two different opinions about where you're at in the "relationship". Because unless you broke up, you're NOT broken up.
