Should I go on a date with my ex-situationship’s friend?

I stopped seeing my ex-situationship about 7 months ago. Randomly, a few days ago on Instagram this guy wanted to follow me. I let him, and we both started chatting and he asked me out. After snooping on his profile a bit more I realized he’s very good friends with the guy I used to see. I’m not really sure how to go about this. I’m sure this guy will tell my ex when he finds out. Am I overthinking this? I do want to go out with him but I think it will be awkward when he finds out.

No you are not overthinking. It sounds like it could be another situationship. You might have to talk to this new guy about the other or they will find out eventually
