Do most older men not take younger women seriously?

I’m not that young (I’m 30) but I’m just naturally attracted to older guys. unfortunately when I’ve let an older guy know I was attracted to them they just want to have sex. Nothing else. Obviously I know this is in a man’s nature and I don’t fault that but am I wasting my time looking for relationships with single older men in their 50s and 60s?

In my experience, they consider the overall maturity of the woman, regardless of her age, to know whether or not to take them seriously. When I was 28, I had an older male friend at work who was in his 50s. (Note: He and I were only friends and nothing more.) He took a liking to my co-worker friend who was 29. I remember we had good times going out for beer and being casual. But my friend was drop dead beautiful, mysteriously quiet, with cat eyes, beautiful red nails, and her full hair and her overall style along with the sound of her voice made her seem so alluring. I remember him taking a jab at me saying something like, "If you were just a bit older, I might be interested in you instead!" I quickly pointed out that my friend (his fancy) was only one year older than me. He thought about it for a moment but defended his response with, "Well, that may be true. But she SEEMS older than you."

I'll never in my life forget this.

It happened yet again when I got reacquainted with a guy I used to know who is five years older than me, and married a woman one year older than me. I remember he kept calling me 'kiddo' and say things like, 'well you're just a young'un' all this ageist bullshit that people do to patronize people younger than them. I said, "First of all, you're just five years older than I am, so I don't know where you get off. Secondly, do you talk this way to your wife, calling her 'kiddo' and what not, because she and I were born in the same year." I remember he said, no, but that one year's age difference from her still meant a lot apparently.

I didn't forget this either.

I guess my point is that men/people will pick and choose who they want to take seriously, and who they don't wish to take seriously. In my case, these two men viewed me as a little-sister type of friend, while the women they were either after or married to were to be considered a cut above me, even though each of them were only a year older.

Two people of the same age can come across very differently, and people can pick up on that and treat one with a bit more respect, and one they won't. It's not the age, it's the person.

This makes a lot of sense ! I know women older than me that act younger than women my age. I never really put my finger on it until now

You are wasting your time. Let's suppose you marry a man at his 50s, you live happily for 10-20 years and he dies because of age or some health complications. Lets suppose by that time you'll either have a 10yo kid from him or a 20yo child. So basically you are at your 40s single mom with a 10yo kid - good luck finding someone. Other scenario - you're single mom with a child that will become an adult in a year. he/she will probably want to leave you and live their own life and you are in your 50s, alone. That's a bad perspective. Another thing, let's suppose your husband is alive and at your 50s you need sex, but he is 70yo and not in good health for that. How do you think it will work out? Will you cheat? With whom? You're 50!

no i dont think your wasting your time with trying to be with older men but you may have to wait till the right one comes along or maybe try and see what guys in there 50s and 60s like to do and how they act etc and go from there or just ask one in here lol best of luck Im over that age so far can't say i have met any ladies your ate that I would date but to be honest I take everyone seriously

Older men do take younger women (in their 20s) seriously for a relationship. Once she hits 30, the majority of good quality men won't take her seriously. Usually just the more desperate men that had very few options due to their own low quality will take women 30+ seriously for a relationship, unless he is a single father.

Couldn’t really say to be honest. Just depends on what they’re looking for. I wouldn’t mind someone who’s younger I’d that’s how things worked out. Mind you I’m not out there looking just for you get women, but if it happened and we were compatible then fine.

Yes. Maybe they just don't take YOU seriously. You're 30 but are you a mature 30? Also what is thier maturity level? Just because a guy is older doesn't automatically make him more mature. You reference them "just wanting sex". Maybe you're using the wrong bait to catch these men so you're attracting all the wrong type of older men.
