The answer is YES. And this is a big difference between men and women, and another one of those differences that is completely based on reproductive strategy.

This is the chart representing the age men think women are the most attractive. Essentially, it shows that men - regardless of age - find women the most physically attractive at age 20-21.
Why is this? Evolution/Natural Selection. Women of this age are at the start of their prime baby-making years - the time when they are most fertile and most likely to have children that survive and are healthy. And because men can have children at almost any age, the man's age is irrelevant, but women are at their peak ability to have healthy children in their early 20s, so Natural Selection rewarded men who found women this age attractive with children (i. e., successful reproduction of his strategy-winning genes) - who reinforced that instinct in future generations.
You'll find that pretty much all of our inter-gender behaviors are based on the refinements of Natural Selection, i. e., "that which will help us survive and reproduce with the greatest success."
Yes, but if a younger woman is up for dating older men, she is going to have to make the first move. The ones that will hit on you are likely scum bags, but the ones who like you but don't flirt are good guys. They don't want to risk making you feel uncomfortable or look like perverts or risk being rejected. If you hit on an older guy that is not into younger women, he will likely feel flattered and nicely let you know he dates women around his own age. Good luck.
Almost everybody finds people in their young adulthood to be most attractive. Women just prioritize other traits than sheer physical attraction when it comes to dating. My 80 year old grandma even gushes about rookie MLB players when we watch the game together though! Haha!

I think everyone can appreciate an attractive young girl. Myself included. But I don't think that attraction needs to be sexual though. If that makes any sense.

Yes definitely. I find women in their early 20's and late teens particularly attractive physically; but I tend to have more in common personality wise with women over 25 for obvious reasons.
Men are very physical with their attraction, and also very visual. Our culture also venerates youth. Additionally, just from a biological point of view; men are supposed to find women attractive once they hit puberty, and the younger the better because it means biologically she's more likely to give you children.
With women the biological reasons for attraction are based around security and health, so men in their 30's and 40's are often claimed to be the most attractive (think about which celebrity men women find attractive, some are in their 50's and 60's). With men physical attraction fades by the late 20's. It's why models and the Hot 100 list in men's magazines are always filled with celebrity women aged 18-24. There's the occasional outsider like Amy Adams who's in her 40's and still stunningly attractive, but she's unusually old for an attractive female celebrity.
Think about who the attractive male celebrities are; Brad Pitt is 53, Robert Downey Jr. is 51, Johnny Depp is 53, Leonardo DiCaprio is 42, George Clooney is 55... can anyone name an attractive female celebrity in their 50's. I'm struggling to name a male celebrity UNDER 30.
So, yeah. It's an unfortunate fact for older women out there, but yes, men prefer younger women. Once you get over 30, an age gap of as much as 10 years is reasonable.
Men and Women tend to work backwards to each other. Often times a younger woman is attracted to an older more mature guy. I think part of the reason is because during puberty girls mature faster than boys. She gets used to the fact that guys her own age is immature. However a man is sexually attracted to whatever is sexually attractive too him. In that sense it isn't the age of Woman that is causing it. It is the Sexual Beauty that the Woman posses. Everyone knows that as a Woman ages she begins to loose her youthful beauty.
I think in marriage - As long as the woman is a kind caring supportive person to be around, the man is willing to fight his urges and stay committed to her. But if she is a total nag that doesn't give him the attention he sometimes needs. Then there is a solid chance that a younger woman who wants a mature man will try to attract him. That kind of temptation has caused many marriages to fall apart.
There are many other reasons why marriages fall apart. What I wrote is just one example.
We are attracted to attractive women of most any age. Lets face it, younger women are usually more attractive than older women. There are some gorgeous older women and very sexy, too. But generally speaking, younger women are more attractive. So it is not unusual at all that older men would find younger women attractive, just as younger men would. So put a 50 year old woman and a 20 year old woman together and we would usually find the 20 year old to be more attractive.
That does not mean that I would put a move on a young woman, though. Common sense matches me up to the older woman. But if those women are next to each other, the guys (young and old) will look more at the younger one. So why do so many people seem to get the idea that that makes older men pervy, just because they recognize younger women look great?
Men will always be attracted to younger women, but there is a point where maturity can be a turn off. I think, for me, it feels really great when a woman younger than you find you attractive still.
You could argue many reasons why men (and women) are attracted to younger opposites. I think, for the most part, there is an attraction to the vibrance, that body that still has everything together. We all know there are those few precious years that we are at our best. Why wouldn't someone be attracted to that?
Men for some reason get drawn to women of earlier child bearing years.
I think also is the conquest element.
But also that they will be more than likely better looking in younger years. That said... there are very hit women iut there that are forty+. However, I do think some women let go a bit and get too comfortable and don't look after themselves so well. I can see that clearly looking at dome of the women that when at school were top of the pecking order but when I see them on Facebook now its like wtf happened.
So, in my opinion... something like that!
a) lusting after body
b) easier to manipulate into bed, less experienced defenses, easier to impress

I think men are generally attracted to women in general so it's not younger vs. same age. Younger women are more likely to be fertile so there is a biological advantage to being attracted to younger women, but your poll makes it sound like it's either younger women or women their age which I would say is not the case.

There are some obvious reasons.
1. Women that are say 40yrs old are a hell of a lot more "tired" looking than guys who are 40yrs old. Men age better than woman.
2. Older women are VERY set in their ways. To the point of being straight out demanding right from their dating profile.
3. Younger women are hot because they are closer to their prime.
4. Older men have a better shot at getting a younger woman because younger women want the same as older women (money!)
I think most do. For me, women my age can still be very hot and sexy, but many times life has taken its toll, no offence. Obviously 20 years or more is going to change how a woman looks and her figure. Many single women my age are also going to come attached with kids and ex-husband drama that most guys also want to avoid. So a young girl in her 20's with a mint body, lots of energy, sexually open minded and more adventurous cute and bubbly can be just what the doctor ordered.
My last two long term girlfriends were 23 and 27 years younger than me, I am still close friends with the second one, although she is now married to a younger guy.
In my experience it can work for a few years, but then they decide you are too old to marry, they are always grateful for the loving experience, and sexual satisfaction, we shared!

Now, as to a long term relationship, the shallowness of youth and lack of common interests might tend to be a drawback.

We can be. Whether we act on that or not depends on the guy. Reasons are the same reasons anyone is attracted to anyone. Looks, personality, common interests etc. I've been attracted to women over 10 years younger than me, not only were they attractive but very mature I thought for their age. Had the same sense of humor, interests etc. I've never approached or been with anyone that much younger, but the attraction was there.
As a man of 50 plus years, yes I am attracted to younger women in their 20's. But while attracted to them, I am not looking for a serious relationship with them.
I find women attractive at varying ages like 18-65. But where as 18-23 maybe too young for me 60-65 maybe too old for me... but, why wouldn't I be attracted women are beautiful. i guess some guys just want a newer model.
