What are your thoughts of dating New Yorker men?

My ex, who was a narcissist, was from New York. Couldn't get a word in edgewise. Talked over me all the time. Control freak. Mean to people. Made fun of people, when he himself was easily made-fun-able. But when you did, holy shit -- look out. He thought he was something special just being from NY, and loved name-dropping hip hop stars he believed he met and became friends with, when in reality it was more like... he just attended their concerts, nothing more. He was a complete boor. He hated people from his past. And I mean, he HATED them. Like full on, wishing death on them.

I don't know. I'm sure there are great people from New York, but he was my introduction to New Yorkers, and let me tell you, I wasn't impressed.

This is coming from a native new yorker born and raised. I can tell you that most young men you meet here are not from here. They're all transplants from somewhere else. Most of the people i grew up with are now long gone.

As for dating, new yorker men tend to be whores. If you're looking to date in this city, be prepared to have to "put out" by a certain date. Be prepared to come accross serial daters, people who ghost, having to constantly compete for a partner or friends.

Truth is... there's so many people in this city that there is always someone better around the corner.

Being white and professional gives you an advantage. Money, status, looks matter a lot here if you want to date the best of the best.

Yea its true. I don't know why people overglorify nyc so much. The only thing that is good here are ambitious people and networking. Other than that, this is not a good place to date, get married or raise a family. Nobody feels the pressure to settle down here.

Rent here is anywhere from 1500 to 3000 for a tiny apartment. Or it can cost 800 to 1500 if you roommate with 4 to 5 other people where you get a tiny room with absolutely no space

I spent my high school years there, so it's where I initially learned about dating. One of the problems with living in an area with a huge amount of people is that you are spoiled with choice when it comes to dating (or so you think). Lots of options, but lots of competition as well. It was a good training ground though.

Really, my ideal city is in the 300k people range where you get amenities, but aren't over-run by negativity and agression.

I lived in NYC for 15 years. Living in a big city is a big trauma. People sue each other like crazy and there are so many crime young kids gangsters on the block. Look how crazy Jennifer Lopez is. She is total paranoid. I should have left to go to LA. I didn't I regret it. It's just earth quack I was afraid of. There are a lot of budoo magic at Harlem. It's literally hell. In queen a lot of gun violence. I mean you get to know how to avoid. It takes time.
