The right alpha men are high value. Unfortunately too many loud, insecure men, looking for "submissive" women think that they are alpha. That actually screams beta to me. What men think are alpha and what women think are alpha men are very different. Men think it is someone very tall, muscular, roiding, loudly speaking his opinions when no one wants it. Women think alpha men are soft spoken, respectful of women, educated, patient, and secure. The high value men are the alpha men to women. Someone doesn't need to be the Rock (WWE character than DJ plays) to be alpha. Once of the most alpha/high value man in my opinion is someone like Stephen Colbert. He is religious, but not imposing of his religion on others, he's devoted to his wife, respectful of his guests, funny, etc.

high value males have attractive traits that women instinctively want e. g. good genes, resources, social status etc.

I think people get too wrapped around the axle with these labels. An “alpha male” is just a masculine, extroverted man with leadership qualities and most guys describing themselves as such, probably aren’t. I feel like “high value” is very subjective. Some women may associate that with literal wealth while others may view it as strong in morals and honesty. I think men and women both just focused on being responsible, honest and healthy society would improve.

Neither. 90% of men who call themselves such as good for nothings that contribute little value in a meaningful relationship and who only get shallow insecure women who may be pretty but contribute little value in a relationship besides looks / sex because these sorts of douchebags with attitude problems have money otherwise they'd be as appealing as homeless.
