Whats weird about this idea, is that if you have a room with only alpha men, then some of those men will become betas, for not being as alpha as the outstanding alphas.
EX, fit, good looking CEO vs a fit, good looking McDonald's manager. Both are confident and what not, but the CEO takes alpha status, making the once other alpha guy, a beta.
But... though other guy is considered a beta now, he still has all alpha qualities, not being a pushover, weak etc -
The alpha/beta terms are usually used incorrectly. The alpha is the leader of a group - the most dominant. You can't have a whole group of alphas, you're right about that. In the military for example most people would say that they're all alpha, yet they have leaders, and those leaders have leaders. The leader is the alpha, the rest are betas.
The term is usually just used to describe people with certain qualities, mainly based on dominance and leadership. All of those soldiers will have good leadership qualities in the right situations - that doesn't mean that they're "alphas".
When it comes to dating, the terms are then used to describe types of men - men who can get laid pretty easily and are more socially/sexually dominant, more confident, more assertive, and those who are more passive, less confident, less assertive, more easily manipulated by women. In a way it's kind of true. Look at any poll on this site and you'll see most women say that they prefer a confident, assertive guy, and when asked whether they want a dominant or assertive guy the large majority always choose dominant.
I think the idea mainly came from the PUA community when it was popular, or at least that's where I first noticed it. Again, it seems that there is some truth to the whole dominance thing. I myself was a pretty shy guy, the typical nice guy who always got friendzoned and who girls were never interested in dating. Once I learned to be more assertive, confident and take the lead more that didn't happen anymore.
I think it's just the terms that sound silly. Usually though, people who are actually "alpha" never call themselves alpha. The ones who do are usually retards.
Since people love to generalize, here's some food for thought (enjoy or get offended lol)
Alphas : "I get laid with many women bruh, throw the money on dat ass" or "I get laid with lots of chicks bruh, check out my ripped body and my big guns"
Betas : "I love and respect women! I will always do whatever you ask me to do and change into whatever person you want me to be... please sleep with me!" Or "I love and respect women! I will be committed and loyal to you even if you cheat on me with an alpha... please sleep with me!"
Omega: "please, I'm a sensitive guy... don't hurt me! I like mature/older women who like to mother me" Or "I'm a virgin, stay in my mom's basement and never talked to a girl as I'm too shy... I fantasize about being submissive to my girl"

Zeta : "I need some cash/peace instead of being in relationships with women or marry them, the laws and society are mostly anti-male" Or "I'm going to Asia/ Europe/ Middle East to find an obedient wife and might just settle there and preferably have kids"

Real alpha men rarely feel the need to mention being alphas. They just are, and it oozes from every fiber of their being. Men claiming to be alphas rarely are. they are usually just obnoxious control freaks who think that by acting crazy and pushy they are alpha leader material. Put them next to a real alpha and almost no one will choose to follow them.
So, the whole alpha/beta labeling system is just a great way to tell us women who NOT to date.
Penis sizes have nothing to do with it. All of the guys I know with massive penises are not alphas.
Also, thinking only alpha men can take charge is funny. In packs, alphas are just betas who are currently on top. They can easily be overthrown in an instant to become a beta or tossed down to an omega. So, I guarantee there are not this many alpha men walking around. XD Just losers trying to feel good through delusions.

If you study "Alpha " men, they always have something to prove. They play the loudest music, have the noisiest, modified cars, etc. They think women are just for sex, and want a huge body count.
"Beta" males are quite content to be themselves, stay in the background etc.
To my way of thinking, the loyal Beta male is then promoted to Alpha, while the so-called Alpha male, is demoted to Gamma.
I will stick with my loyal so-called Beta male. He is a good 'un!

About your update: Alpha and beta is really a load of bullshit. It is just men wanting to give themselves macho labels.
At the end of the day, the real alpha man is the one that stays loyal and faithful, even when some other woman offers sex on a plate!
This whole Alpha and Beta thing was started up by red pillers who wanted to have a reason why women don't like them and didn't want to accept that maybe they're unlikable. Then people unironically started using it in everyday life. It was based on a flawed (now disproven) understanding on how wolf packs function in nature.

In really simplistic terms, an alpha is more true to himself and goes for what he wants, knows not everyone will like him, doesn't care and isn't afraid to speak his mind, stand up for himself and live his code.
An alpha is more insecure, let's people walk over him, always gives in to others wishes, tends to put of with crap to stay in a relationship and is afraid to be true to themselves because it won't seem nice, cares too much what others think about him.

Alpha males are IN CHARGE, and by "in charge", I mean ACTUALLY running something important. A big, strong, loud guy is usually not an alpha male in the modern world. It's the quiet guy who signs the big guy's paycheck who is in charge. Real alpha males are usually quiet, calm, assured--they need to prove nothing. The ones who are always making the big macho act are what are called "insecure betas". They are betas, they know they are really betas--the don't call the shots, and the HATE it, so they pick on other betas so they can feel better about themselves.

In fact, 80% of women are chasing 15% of guys - the alpha bad boyz/fukboyz while the rest are standing on the sidelines. And you'll hear those guys whining about constant rejection. The women on the other hand, are all asking 'where have the good men gone', and 'why can't I get a guy to commit'. There's a lot that goes into it, but you haven't addressed it in a serious way, so you're not getting serious reply.

Look up cheating stats, how many women men sleep with on average (very similar to women in number), etc. There are some manwhores, but there are women to match.
