Boyfriend wants me to fly out for 4 days including Christmas to meet his family?

My boyfriend 28M wants me 23f to go with him out of state for 4 days to meet his family, including Christmas Day. I have been dating my boyfriend for a year exactly and he is pushing me to go with him out of town to meet his family. While I want to meet his family, he wants us to go and stay at his parents house for 4 days. On top of this his older brother just had a baby (he has never met) so we would be expected to not only get updated vaccines but also drive out to their city to spend the day with them. The idea of meeting his entire family at once is so overwhelming for me and staying at his house. I’m talking mom, stepdad, 2 sisters and their partners, older brother, his wife , and their child. Potentially his father and step mother and their 4 children. I have told him I would feel more comfortable meeting his parents before his entire family. His mother is scared of flights and they drive everywhere so it’s unlikely that she and her husband would come to meet us in our state (he has mentioned this many times). I did meet his older sister while she was in town for work and she said I should come to Christmas. I feel an obligation to go. But I myself know that going to a different state and meeting all these people at once is going to be a lot for me. My social battery is short and I get very homesick. Not to mention I keep thinking, what if they don’t like me and/or I don’t like them and I’m stuck up there for 4 days. I know this is a bridge I will have to cross someday but I feel like there is no compromise. My boyfriend has made it absolutely clear that he expects me to go. When I told him I wasn’t sure, he said well you expect me to go to your family’s house for Thanksgiving (they live 20 mins away) and that would be for a few hours. I don’t know what to do. I just like to have an out when I’m feeling overwhelmed and I won’t have that when I am staying with his family 24/7 for 4 days. I need advice.

This is a big ask, meeting the whole fam at Christmas is super overwhelming! I totally get why you're hesitant.

A few things stand out - your boyfriend dismissing your comfort level by comparing it to a short Thanksgiving is whack. Your feelings are valid.

Plus staying with them means zero alone time if things get awkward or draining. I get wanting to make a good impression, but 4 days straight is hardcore.

Here's what I'd suggest - level with your boyfriend again about how meeting them all at once has you stressed. Ask if y'all could do a shortened trip, like fly in Christmas Eve and out the 26th instead.

That way you get the important family time but it's not a whole week. And see if you could book a separate hotel as an escape option.

If its not somthing he is willing to entertain I dont really see what choices u have as it would seem not going will damage the relationship so I guess u decide what u want
