4.1K opinions shared on Dating topic. Cook a major meal at home. Think of it as "Dining in a fine restaurant at home".
I am serious.
Before the date, you two decide on what meal you want to make and eat together. Don't phone it in. Make it a "production", like a Thanksgiving dinner.
So, the day of the date/dinner, you two go shopping together to get all the ingredients and any necessary additional things (wine, cookware if there's something you need but don't have, a nice tablecloth, etc.) But you two do all this shopping together. Think of it as a shopping date.
Get home early enough to do the cooking though. Expect at least 3 hours of prep time and cooking time before you actually eat.
So, you prepare and cook together. Like you are the chef and he is the "sous chef". While the meal is cooking, you set the table etc. During all this time, you are talking and interacting - getting to know each other through words and actions.
After the dinner, well... that's up to you two.10 Reply

I did the Zip line, street festival and playground on dates over the summer. ( She was reluctant about the playground but had a huge smile on her face while singing on the swing. )

Are you really 67? Thatβs very cute.

67 plus a few months. She is almost 58. I like her a lot and I think she likes me. I try not to be boring. :)
+1 yGo to a museum. Give him two options that you like, and both pick together. So cute.
Go to a βmallβ, but one of those malls that have activities inside. Like, build-a-bear, ice skating, bowling. You know what kind of malls Iβm talking about.
Movie theatre. Once it ends, go get ice cream or stay after the credits. Usually they leave the lights on in the theatre, so you guys can talk.
Picnic/walk in the park. Like, order takeout and eat at a park bench.20 Reply

u +1 yI've always liked (and has worked for me) what they call a Sunset Drive... you look for a good spot and take a drive there, it can be fun... if you bring something fun to snack and share, maybe a couple of drinks too
and if you hit it well and really connect, then you can take it from there to... anywhere the mood wants to drive you next...110 Reply- +1 y
This actually sounds beautiful, but I guess I prefer this for 2nd or 3rd dates after being more comfortable with someone.

Then another first date I took her on the campus bus and we just rode around all night. Another first date I took her to the college where I went. They were having some kind of show in the student union.

@MissStrawberry912 I was planning on moving to Colorado maybe forever. I was going out there with another kid. I even helped him fix up his car so it would make the trip. I had impacted wisdom teeth and I wanted to get them out before I left. I had them removed in the hospital and it took a few days before the swelling went down. I called this kid to tell him I was good to go. His mother told me he left without me. I was angry but I was still in town to go to my family's vacation home on Memorial Day. I was cleaning up the yard when a group of 8 or 9 people walk by. My friend was with me and he started talking to them. I just kept working until I noticed a girl wearing cutoff jean shorts and worn out old sneakers. She had the prettiest smile I ever saw. I tried to talk to her but she totally shut me down. Later I went down to the beach and tried again and this time she told me that she just graduated from college and she lived near where I lived. She would not tell me her name because she didn't want anything to do with me. I ended up going to her college library and getting her yearbook. I went through the whole thing until I spotted her picture with that same smile. I got her name and was able to look her up in the phonebook (this was the 80's). She asked me how I tracked her down and I told her. She was actually impressed that I went through all that trouble. I asked her if she would go out with me and she said that she was starting a new job out of state and was leaving the next day. I chalked it up to my crappy luck and forgot about it. A month or so later I ran into her again at the beach and we spent a lot of time together and decided we would try to date each other. It turns out we had a lot in common.

We grew up in adjoining towns and had been to a lot of the same events. She worked at the local cinema and one night I took a girl there to see Back To the Future. I was standing in line to buy popcorn and all of a sudden two guys start fighting and everyone is pushing and shoving. The manager and some other guy come and break up the fight. It turns out my wife was working behind the counter and she remembered the fight, We were both at the same Beach Boys concert and we knew some of the same people. We are both of Italian decent. After we went out for a few weeks she told me she had something she wanted to tell me. She said that she was engaged to a guy that lived across the country that she met at school She just broke up with him, I told her that I was engaged to a girl that lived 1500 miles away that I met at school and we had recently broke up./ A year and a half later we got married.

10 ReplyIn my own opinion I would say anything that you can actually have good conversation.
Should be the most important thing to if you ate attracted to someone... get to know them and see if you can actually hold an hour long conversation... otherwise there would be no point
One funny story I have...
I have a friend that likes to take woman the beach or swimming pool on a first date 😅
Why? You ask
When woman swim there is usually no makeup involved 🤣
