Are guys looking to have something serious with women who are financially independent these days?

Honestly the things that women look at in men, finances, height, security, men don’t look at that in women. It doesn’t make her more attractive. A lot of times women who are like that, have their own car, their own house, etc, tend to express masculine qualities. That’s not something men like. A man doesn’t want to go home to another “man” butting heads. Because when she knows she’s got it all she develops this mentality what do I need him for I can find someone else. Plus a lot of women like that don’t have time for a family, a lot of men want a family.

Can confirm that part, aside from wanting her to pay half the bills out of fairness (I don't need it), money isn't important.

The other 2 are completely unimportant. All that matters is looks, personality, and hobbies/interests.

I don't agree with the rest though, butting heads only happens if hobbies, interests, and personalities are different. Being financially stable and having her own stuff isn't going to make her wonder why she needs me. She needs me because she likes my company and I make her horny.

Using utility as a reason to be together, is a horrible way to go about relationships.
My reasons for marrying are having a gaming/hobby buddy, someone to talk to about shared interests and make art with, and obviously sex, comfort and loyalty.

No one needs anything else from a partner, simply being like-minded and sexually attracted is enough to stay together for life.

@nastyb kids aren’t expensive. They’re expensive because parents want their kids to wear brand name everything. They want their kid to look the cutest, competing against other parents. Especially when it comes to the mothers.

Kids are very expensive, the college fund alone is a massive money sink, then you have good diets, toys, games, books, travel expenses, their first car, etc.

@TheSpaceGnome ok sure. I have 5 kids. They all made their way through life. Have our own home, paid off, both cars paid off. I don’t think they’re expensive. But that’s my opinion

Just because we can afford them, does not mean they aren't expensive.

Most people can barely afford a shitty apartment, 1 car, gas, unhealthy cheap food, hobbies, etc while having no kids.

I can confidently say this based on experience:

85% of the time, men don't care about how much a woman makes PRIOR to having kids.

After having kids, the average income / poor men who married broke women are one of the most miserable / stressed out people you will ever meet. It is only till this point where he realizes he's made a mistake marrying an absolutely broke woman. I have seen this happen in so many marriages. They're stressed out due to all the additional expenses but also the fact that he knows his family will die if he ever loses his job. This creates immense stress.

The only men who are happy being married to financially broke women / housewives are upper middle class or rich men.
