Why can't we see the flaws in a crush?

Because a crush is someone you are attracted to but do not really know. So you use your imagination to fill in all the gaps. He said Hi to me and he smiled, he must be a really great and not guy, and he is so handsome.

But is he really a great and nice guy, because bad people smile to... what do you really know about it him... doesn't matter he looks so handsome I bet he has to be great. Until you start talking to him, and then your disappointed because he is not living up to the expectations you created for him in your own head. And that is not fair of you do, and it is not fair to him.

Plus, you're 37 years old. Grownups to not crush on people, that's something you do in high school until you grow and start acting like an adult.

Thanks I'm 44 and I thought I was crushing on a girl, but the reality is I do know enough about her to know she's not perfect, and I'm not blinded by the fact.

You're not using your head, pretty simple. Women are especially bad at this but all genders can fall victim to this. It happens worse to women because they indulge their "feelings" more. While a guy is more likely to stop and say to himself, "wait, does this add up".

Well it wouldn’t be much of a crush if she didn’t seem absolutely perfect at the time… 😉

I mean that’s kind of why it’s a crush. It should be completely irrational and obsessive.

Cause that's limerence for you. Lust blocks us from rationality and flaws.

Well when we're find of something or someone we tend to ignore the flaws or shortcomings. Rather we even interpret them in a positive way at times. Perhaps that's a human tendency.

Sometimes you can get so overcome with crazy that you overlook a lot of things that you would not find attractive. Eventually you will see them for what they Are

A crush in an infatuation, with infatuation you are basically idealizing them in your mind.. Kind of putting them on a pedestal..

I can always see flaws. But they might not be so severe that I lose the crush.

We don't know them. If we see flaws, we stop crushing on them.

I thought it was because you feel the attraction so strongly that you don't want to feel or see the negatives

I believe it's the Blindness in Love!

We see it once the "Honeymoon Phase" wears away.
