How can some guys be oblivious to signs of interest from their crush?

My crush apparently is into me since I’ve been noticing some signs and he also asked my brother some personal questions about me. All this time I thought he was an outgoing person, but it turns out he’s pretty shy and reserved. Sometimes when I talk to him on IG, if I don’t extend the convo then he just stops talking. I’ve shown him signs of interest such as flirting with him, asking to video chat, and I’ve asked him to hang out but he still doesn’t really act upon his feelings.

When I’ve flirted with him in the past he’ll just send me this emoji 🙈 and then talk about something else. When I suggested video chatting, he said he doesn’t want to do it and thinks he’s gonna look ugly and that he’s shy. So honestly at this point part of me wants to give up on him because nothing is happening the way I want it to go. I heard that some guys are literally oblivious to signs of interest from their crush, but how true is that though?

Some guys can be or can act oblivious probably due to their self esteem. I have a guy friend who also happened to be a guy I like who has a really low self esteem. He doesn't like the way he looks despite the encouragement our friends and I give him. Anyways, you say that he is shy it could be just because of his personality or like I said, he might not just have the confidence. He might think that he is not worthy for you or probably he thinks that you deserve better. This is more about him and his own issues rather than his connection with you. If you have the confidence, I reckon it's better to just tell him directly because it might take a really long while to get him confess to you. Though, not all girls are as brave as to do that (including me)

because we are guys, not gals. subtle signs (most anything short of "hey i like you like that") dobt work. we are way more direct in general. on the flip side of that...

To answer your question, I think it’s because we mistake the flirting for friendliness. We also don’t wanna embarrass ourselves with rejection 😅

Flirting is seen as friendly sometimes so perhaps some women don’t pick up on it.

Other guys are just naturally flirty and aren’t trying to get with a girl at all and some girls know this.

Just be more blunt with him. Straight up tell him you’re into him or you think he’s cute or something, and then ask what he thinks about you. He’s obviously into you, he’s probably just too shy to actually make a move.
