Why do we idealize our crushes?

I don't like to fantasize about an ideal person if they are not in front of me. I hate it... HATE IT. But let's be honest, we all do it, but why is that?

Because we're human, & we want to be happy. Society tells us the way to be happy is to be in a relationship, so we envision the perfect person who will make us happy. I personally don't think the only way to be happy is to be in a relationship. In fact, I think you should find yourself & be happy before entering a relationship. People who say they won't be happy until they're in a relationship put too much pressure on their partner. If we can't make ourselves happy, another person can't either. Just my opinion.

We tend to see our crushes with "love blinders" firmly in place, so we don't see their flaws. Scientists have proven that a chemical is released in our minds when we experience that "falling in love" feeling is responsible for the way we turn a blind eye to our crush's obvious flaw(s).

I think we make the other person what we want them to be in the infatuation stage, because when we're crushing on someone, we can't have them do anything wrong. They must be perfect, otherwise why would we like them so much? So we tend to minimize the qualities we don't love and blow out of proportion the ones that we're crazy about.

That is a question that has plagued mankind for centuries. That's like asking why do we fall in love!? No one truly knows the answer.. As humans we desire love and many people like to say looks don't matter when dating someone but looks and attraction are why we are drawn to them. We desire that person for how they look or smell or walk so much so that we fantasize about them.
