What is your opinion on dating a guy with Aspergers?

I have been diagnosed with Aspergers since 2015 which means the person is shy and doesn't have good social skills. It seems for me that translates to online dating as well. I am the person that can't keep a conversation going. I talk favorite interests then just stop. I am afraid to even ask out any of the people I talk to because of my bad social skills. So I decided to delete my acounts on the dating sites I am on till I feel more confident talking to people online and in person

You face a difficult challenge as a number of people are deterred by the words "autism" or "Asperger's". They associate those 2 words with health issues that are incompatible with whom they are looking for to be in a relationship. Most don't even know that there are several degrees of severity in those challenges.

FIrst, one would have to determine which degree of Asperger's you are suffering from. If it is a minor degree, then I don't think that there would be too much problem to get into a relationship.

You could probably seek the help of a specialist to try to train your social skills or you can even try yourself by practicing in front of a mirror, pretending that the image you receive in return is another person. Tailor your approach until you think you are satisfied with how you present yourself. Next step would be to find topics of conversation that are interesting to the target person (s). You would have to do some research though and try to get proficient with those topics. Good luck.

So for me it would be really tough given my personality. I am a social person by nature and like to keep a pretty socialable life. I like going out with friends in groups and I will certainly mix it up with people I don't even know if for example we go out to a club or something. So that personality and someone that is shy is going to clash really bad. For you it is about finding the right person. Not everyone is going to fit the bill so to speak. To me you want to look for someone that is introverted. The biggest issue is finding and engaging someone that isn't likely to open up much. It is possible but going to be a challenge.

As a fellow Asperger's can say, go for full therapy. Helps greatly.
