My boyfriend wants to get his employee whos retiring roses. is that acceptable or should he do something more professional?

I'm guessing that you think roses are a symbol of romantic interest, and this is making you jealous. However, that idea is only true for particular colors.

I just think roses always will be more romantic. I feel any other flower would do but roses I feel are too much.

Roses that aren’t red would be appropriate. Or even an assorted bouquet, tulips, etc should be fine. But usually when it comes to a retirement party, a simple cake and a “Happy Retirement” mug would suffice. Is he the only one getting a gift for this employee and he thought of roses? Or is he assigned to get the flowers while others are assigned for other items?

Is the employee a man or a woman? Seems kind of cheap for a retirement gift. You get flowers at a funeral, not for retirement. A nice bonus for excellent service would be more appropriate in my opinion, and most likely more appreciated by the employee.

Roses are a sign of romance and in general love. Only women I’ve bought roses for was ex’s on occasions and for my mom on mother’s day.

But a co worker as a good bye gift? I’d just do a random assortment bouquet. But not roses.
