Whats the saying nice guys finish last and why?

if you have to stop being nice to show her who's boss you aren't really a nice person to begin with. I have never had to stop being nice to my wife for her to follow my lead. I am the head of our household and she counts on me to make the choices that are best for our family. many times I will ask for input out of respect and because she views the world differently than I do. the saying "nice guys finish last" is an odd thing because no nice guy finishes last they are the guys that have the long lasting happy passionate marriages to some of the most beautiful and gorgeous women on earth. now the "nice" guys on the other hand yeah they definitely finish last because most women can tell that the guy is being "nice" not nice. what is the difference? simple "nice" guys are only nice because they expect payment in return for that for example "I treated you so good last week you owe me" where as nice guys treat women nice because it is the right thing to do. but they also do not put up with bullshit, toxicity, and drama which is why guys like that automatically command respect without needing to say anything
