It is dead only for those who don't realize that it is different than meeting someone in person, and it requires effort and a different approach. Next April, I'm getting married to a girl I met online, so I don't think it's dead.
Apparently, some people still believe that online dating means that you only correspond online and you never meet in peson. If that's what you believe, I can understand why you wouldn't be interested.
Thanks, Coach!
I dont' know, Coach. My only online thing was back b4 COVID with the couple in Fullerton... and that was a good experience. I wish I could do it over again or meet up with them now... Good people, I thought.

One can only hope it is 🤣
Why?
@StirredNotShaken because in my opinion, it’s ruining the dating/relationship experience for a lot of people.
You can explain that to them until you're blue in the face, and they won't listen. Just be glad you figured it out.
@StirredNotShaken oh no I’ve never used online dating nor would I ever
I'm lucky, I'm a city boy. But for those out in the sticks, it's about all they have.
"On-line dating" is an oxymoron. You can connect with people on-line, but that's not dating. An actual date is face to face, in person. People who are too apprehensive or too picky to meet and get to know someone in person are not into dating. You can't "date" on-line.
Example: Let's say you meet someone at school, work or wherever. You are friendly with each other and there are signals of attraction. At some point, you have to ask that person out to do something together. When you go out, that's a date. All the talking to them before hand wasn't a date.
And it's the same on-line.
Before on-line dating, you met people randomly during your daily activities. It you were attracted to them, you asked them on a date in order to get to know more about them.
But with on-line dating, you can form fantasies about your ultimate perfect partner and then search through thousands of photos and bios from around the world for a unicorn. If you connect with someone, you then engage in endless interviewing - resumes and background checks - via text conversations. Those usually go sideways because people aren't sincere. They're playing a game.
You can't observe mannerisms and behaviors that might make them super attractive. All you're looking at on-line are metrics like height, photographs, income, relationship history, etc. But you can't even assess their truthfulness.
Until you meet in person, you are dealing with an avatar.
I can see the attraction of searching on-line, but I think it has made people shallow and unrealistic. Fantasy as opposed to productive. It's for people who are married to their devices and don't interact in the real world.
I don't think many people like dating apps because of what they associate with it. For girls, it's a lot of sleazy guys trying to get in their dms and having trouble filtering the genuine ones with the fake ones. For guys it's the difficulty of even getting a conversation going and having to be judged so harshly because of the ridiculous amount of competition. It's depressing... more so for men than women, because at least women get attention and have their pick of the crop. But according to Forbes, the percentage of individuals partners on dating sites is about 70%. So obviously it still works.

I would not know, I've never used it... none of my friends or people I know used it, nobody in my family or coworkers use it...
I only got to hear about it here, since I joined G@G and for what I've seen from some it seems like it was never really alive for some... lol
It really depends on what you are actually looking for, just someone for a 1 night stand or a relationship.
As, free sites are generally not geared for those looking for a relationship.
The better pay to join sites like its just lunch, eharmony are geared for those who are more serious about finding someone special, not just 1 and done.
Those people can join and be accepted as a member, but if they are blatant about it they, usually men, can be reported and removed from the site. The cost helps eliminate that type of person.
They are usually geared for mid 20s on up.
That is where I met my wife, so I know it works, but it is still a fair amount work to find "the one".
I don't know, I took myself out of the online dating scene a while ago. Tinder banned me for posting a picture of myself carrying a shotgun while hiking through some canyons in New Mexico looking for the Forrest Fenn treasure. The shotgun was to keep my friend's kids from getting eaten by mountain lions and to discourage claim jumpers but the liberals couldn't handle it.
Just because there are many dating apps out there, I think its a very small % of people who meet on the app, like each other and end up marrying each other. Dating apps are meant in my opinion for two grown adults to make a commitment long term and eventually tie the knot. But girls and women have extremely high expectations and are non-responsive with the abundance of messages and likes they get. Guys are often left ghosted, overlooked, and reliant on these stupid apps. A guy doesn't have to be Brad Pitt and Henry Cavil, but if he takes care of himself, in shape, works hard and has confidence to approach women or girls, I would think he could get more dates with women then being on the app. I think dating apps aren't dying necessarily but it doesn't really work and I think eventually it will fade away like how other platforms slowly became less popular such as MySpace from the early to late 2000s, MSN Messenger, Facebook, BBM, Vine and others.
It is still popular, NOT because it is good - far from it, but because other options for meeting "significant others" or even worse, or have become worse (too risky, too much downside, or too costly) in the current society. For example, I wouldn't dare try dating someone from work, unless the job was just temporary and was not in any way possibly a career.
are even worse or have become even worse, ugh typos
I'd say it isn't dead so much as passive. You "date" online now to just spread further and hook-up if your cold approach and circles you're moving in are going slow.
Like if you're going hunting, you throw a net with little bait into a stream before you do so. You really don't care too much what comes up in that net when you get back, it's all bonus. I viewed it that way 10+ years ago, and still do now.
Still popular, but online dating doesn't work. Because the apps are made to keep you on it. They don't get anything from people leaving the app, so they do what they can to keep you there and make you pay.
I wouldn't know. From what I know most online dating seems to be for short term relationships (hook-ups, friends with benefits, etc.).
It was never alive XD like it has always been the hopeless shit show that it is too day. Few people get lucky. Most will uninstall cause it's a waste of time.
It's dead to me at least. I never got anything out of it, yet I'm very popular in person: all it took was getting out more to realise. Just a time and money pit for women dependant on external validation; with no desire to interact with me, just to prove their worth.
Yeah, there are mostly only bitches, who have nothing more to offer than their looks and they are collecting likes for validation only. There is almost no serious dating on there.
all spambots people from other countries who lie... yeah...
Just "dating' is dead. Online sex is thriving.
Yes.
But online hookups are Alive , Burning and well
I have no idea. I've never used on line dating. It wasn't around when I was dating years ago
@coachTanthony Considering the number of people using online dating apps, I highly doubt online dating is dead.
Dead but not buried which is why it smells bad.
Was it ever alive?
When it came out in the early 2000's it was for sure.
Online dating is the only way to date post MeToo and Covid.
I don't know, you tell us. Isn't this your "profession"? You claim to be a dating coach (as ridiculous as that sounds), so you should have the answers
Has it ever been alive, I wonder.
Certainly, these apps provide "results" every now and then.
But so does the lottery.
Nope still popular. Especially since it's the main way people meet these days.. Although, it maybe dying a slow death... Maybe..
I think people are getting away from it. They see what a trainwreck it is.
It was a dumpster fire for me during the short time I attempted it, so I am biased in saying "Yes."
Well I do know catfishers are making online dating look bad. Especially for those who are looking for a serious relationship.
No looking at someone profile can never get feel for person or judge. Never done online dating never will not my thing
no, it just showed us how the genepool works in the ugliest way possible
Was it ever alive? 🤔
My guess would be most people still meet this way.
As dead as G@G. Both still exist and neither for what they were intended.
The day online dating dies will be the day technology dies.
It’s popular despite being dead.
Online dating isn’t dead but the culture is
Unfortunately it's not
Nah it's not
It was never alive to begin with
Yes and it's abouttime
For women, no. For men, it always has been
One can but hope
