It’s weird that he’s still single since many girls have been after him. When we were breaking up he told me he was looking for a wife.

Could things to consider, the first i think we can all agree with without need for discussion:
1) It's far easier for a woman to get in a relationship than it is for a man.
2) Men offer tangibles for a woman and are expected to give emotional support to make a woman feel safe before most women start to do the type of non sexual acts of service like cooking for him, washing his dirty undies, etc.

So him getting out of a relationship has him hesitant to jump back in to another relationship with just anyone (assuming he interested in more than just sex from the girl)

He may enjoy being single again, and it sounds like he can easily find companionship when he wants to.
After my divorce it really didn't date anyone for a long time, I was just having fun, had 1 night stands but that was it.
It could be a phase, but the question that begs to be asked is since he is an ex why you would be concerned or even courious about him.
Move on.
