A guy I briefly dated and I decided we were not a match. We liked each other for friendship. After a while he would "ghost" off/on. Should I be upset?

Of course ghosting, is not good. However, we are not dating, so I'm not sure if maintaining a frequency of interaction is too much of an expectation from me. Since the switch from dating to "friendship", he no longer carries out a conversation in texting, but is very quick to respond. He never declines an invite to hang out, but rarely initiates himself. In person, he very engaged, happy, and positive. Thr vibes/chemistry is awesome.

I'm guess I get hot/cold signs if he wants me in his life, and I'm not sure how to adjust to him. Its safe to say we have probably feeling for each other, but we are trying to keep them in check since we are not compatible, and trying a friendship out.
