My boyfriend wanted me to be mad that someone liked him, why?

My boyfriends friend said that there’s a girl that likes him. Then my boyfriend told me information and asked if I was mad, when I replied with no he said “ugh I wanted you to be mad.” I don't know if he wants me to be jealous bc there is one guy that is obsessed with me and that obviously pisses him off. What are your thoughts?
