Do you know for sure if he really likes you or not? I don’t it’s wrong for you to ask for his number, just make sure he likes you first. If he likes you I doubt he will reject you because you asked for his number.

It might make him feel Uncomfortable, But that definitely doesn't mean you shouldn't do it, It just means that he more than likely might act a bit like he is not interested or not into you when there is already about a 60 to 70% chance he is into you.
I doubt it would be uncomfortable. If he likes you he'll give it to you. It not that strange just asking for a phone number... but if I were you I'd talk to him a bit first, if you haven't yet just to break the ice
