What do you think may be a reason why this guy I have never liked called me his friend?

I have never liked and found this guy attractive based on both his looks and personality.

I have also never told this guy I like him, think of him as a friend or he is attractive.

I find it odd he actually thinks we are friends.

Hmm that is pretty weird that he would call you his friend out of nowhere like that. A few possibilities I can think of:

- He might have a crush on you and is trying to work his way into the friend zone first before asking you out. Calling you his friend is step one in that plan.

- He could be kinda full of himself and just assumes everyone wants to be his buddy whether they actually are or not. Some dudes are like that.

- Maybe he's trying to make you feel awkward or put you on the spot by labeling you that way even though you've given no indication of liking him back.

- It could be some kind of weird ego/mind game thing where he gets off on acting like you're closer than you really are.

I'd just be direct and casual about it if it was me. Like "Oh we're not really friends, I don't know you that well." Get it out in the open you're not interested in being pals. Dude sounds like bad news and probably not worth your time. But that's just my two cents!

Depends on your definition of a friend. If he sees and interacts with you frequently like at work or school then he may consider you a friend when in reality maybe acquaintances or colleagues is more fitting.
