Can a man still be attracted to you if you are a different body type than his typical preference?

Hello seeking advice. My boyfriend said that his preference is thick women but I am slender. He said that he is attracted to me but I cannot get over the comment. I just need to know if men can have a preference but still be attracted to a different body type. I would really appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Very easy for me when I was a bachelor. I also started off as a stereotypical teenager attracted to the hourglass figure. I think when we're teens, we have so little sexual experience and so we go only by visuals and whatever is popular in the media at the time.

Yet the very first girl I fell completely madly towards (not the first I dated) had maybe something closer to a rectangle. She was very skinny with very small breasts and not much of a butt. Yet I still fell for her so much that my favored body type became hers. I liked how easy it was to pick her up off her feet and how she could sprint towards me and jump at me and it was so easy to catch her given how small and skinny she was.

I think also as we gain more experience, it ceases to become so completely about visuals. The way a woman smells, how her body feels to touch and hold, the sound of her voice, all seem to become as important as how she looks even when we're just talking about the physical qualities of a woman. So that usually opens us up to more than a very specific body type since there's a lot more going on in what attracts us than the shape of her body even at just the physical level.

Of course we can. We may have a type, but that doesn't mean we can't love another.

Yes, I’ve dated men while not going for my usual ‘type.’ Sometimes someone not your usual type appeals to you and you start off attracted to their nature, then they start to become more attractive physically to you. To the point where your type doesn’t even matter anymore. You’d rather have this person, forever. Men and women think this way as they mature.
