I see mixed opinions on this; obviously, there won't be the same answer for everyone. But if your girlfriend or wife bought you some flowers, would it be weird to you? Like for an anniversary, or to congratulate you on winning something, or just to show appreciation, etc.
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yNot so much on the flowers front if you mean like the cut bunches. As I see the nice idea of them but I find that there limited life span makes me question the worth a bit. Plants in general and even potted flowers I'd be fine with depending on the plant. There are some flowers that I find really nice and relaxing scent wise like Jasmine.
But yeah I wouldn't mind if a girlfriend got me flowers.02 Reply
Asker+1 yYeah, I feel the same way. I don't really get the girl hype around them
Opinion Owner+1 yI get they look and smell nice and that. But I think the limited life span is what makes them not worth it. You only get that for a short time really.
Thank you for MHO.

I love receiving flowers! On the rare occasions I get flowers for my wife, I always buy a second bunch for myself.
My wife doesn’t really care about flowers, so she actually will pick me up some if she’s near the store or I’ve had a rough week or just because.10 Reply

Not strawberries.
Do you think flowers would make him happy?
Think of some hobbies he has, things he loves doing and choose a present accordingly.

+1 yIt's the kind of thing that I just would think it's a nice gesture. Especially if we weren't living together.
Flowers objectively make a space look nicer and there is something kinda cute about the fact I'd be thinking about her every time I see them. Nothing unattractive about a woman who's endearing.

+1 yI don't much get the idea of giving flowers but, I certainly wouldn't mind getting some. One good friend of mine gave me a bouquet of them for my birthday about 30 years ago. I thought it was really sweet of her and kinda cherished them as long as they stayed alive.
10 Reply 6K opinions shared on Dating topic. I don’t think I’d be weird. Different and uncommon? For sure, but I’d accept them anyway.
And now I’d have to get her flowers and so the Great Flower War would begin.

Asker+1 yHaha, another flower war one. That's nice though
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI remember asking my dad once if he ever would have liked flowers from my mom instead of him always giving the flowers, and he was like, no, it's my thing. I like doing it, but I don't want them given to me. I've never dated a guy who wanted flowers, but I'm sure they are out there.

m +1 yMy main problem would be I get hay fever and might be a bit meh, but as a present not a problem.

Asker+1 yFair. Do you have allergies or something? That's definitely something to consider
- +1 y
Just hay fever. Some flowers are fine some I end up a snott monster lol
Asker+1 ySorry, that sucks
- +1 y
Yeah it’s really random
+1 yI'd appreciate the gesture but I have no idea what to do with them. I'd rather get something I can eat, for example, like a bag of peanuts. It's like if a woman got me a box of tampons. I'm still happy at the thought but I just don't know what to do with them.

Fake flowers would at least be preferable for me since I don't know how to take care of the real ones and water them and keep them in the sunlight and so forth and really don't want to deal with that maintenance. I figure the next time she stops at my place, she will want to see the flowers. So I can do that and put them on a coffee table or something and say like, "See, I put the flowers over here. I didn't throw them away or anything." But it's much easier for me if they are fake flowers.
+1 yWeird as in odd? Yes. Weird as in unwelcome? No- I'd be kind of confused, and uncertain of how to emotionally react, but I'd appreciate the gesture, if nothing else. Not sure how many guys would feel the same way, though.

* a vase
Asker+1 yI see why that might be a bit awkward. Though, if you hang them upside down in a dark corner they actually preserve really nicely, which is better than a vase if you ask me.
Also, you could use a jar or a wine bottle.- +1 y
Thanks I didn't think of that.
Asker+1 yNp 🙂

I would be a little disappointed if she didn't like receiving flowers for herself. I've always thought of giving flowers as a traditional and thoughtful gesture.

+1 yNot weird, but I'd rather she just put it in the garden. I don't view flowers as romantic guestures, moreso as landscaping tools. If she wants to get me an appreciation gift, games, books, toys, collectables, or tech is more appropriate. But I don't need gifts.

+1 yAbsolutely not, flowers are a naturist marvel. As some one who has some real respect for all life forms and knows how to appreciate nature, I would be delighted to be gifted flowers from my hypothetical girlfriend
10 Reply3.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. Considering most of us receive our first flower on our funeral, getting flowers out of nowhere (or on 14 February) would send to some of us a relative powerful message.
I wouldn't care if she doesn't like receiving flowers.

Asker+1 yLots of girls are curious. It was brought to my mind because my brother mentioned how he'd be super happy to receive some flowers from a girl, and I'd been under the impression that guys would be weirded out if a girl gave him some.
- +1 y
Your brother sounds sweet.
I would be weirded out, yes. But not necessarily in a bad way. (If that makes sense.). In other words, I wouldn't be offended.
Asker+1 yYeah, I think I get it. I just personally don't really care for flowers myself, but I also thought it would be nice to give some to my boyfriend should I have one.

Opinion Owner+1 yHopefully you get the point.
Asker+1 yI'm undecided. It's apparent whether men like flowers or not is subjective
Opinion Owner+1 yTo the vast majority of men, flowers and an utter waste of money. If you're going to spend that kind of money on a guy, spend it on something that has value to him.
