Would you (guys) be happy if your girlfriend were to gift you some flowers?

My boyfriend have never received flowers before and our anniversary is coming up so I was planning on getting him a simple flower bouquet. He’s not big on gifts so I wanted to gift him something simple. As a guy, would receiving flowers from your partner make your day at all?

How many women would want a set of tools or a vacuum as a romantic gift? A few would, but most would not, even though they would appreciate the thought.

That's the same with flowers for most men. Ask yourself when you have ever seen a man by flowers for himself (and landscaping his house doesn't count)? Almost certainly, the answer is never.

Men by flowers for women because women actually want flowers, and many women buy flowers for themselves just because they like flowers. Men do not. Men buy meals, tools, sports equipment, video games, etc. because that's what men like.

This doesn't mean that men are ungrateful, or that they wouldn't appreciate the gesture, but you can certainly do better picking a gift. It doesn't need to be expensive - make him a batch of brownies or cookies or get him a movie ticket. He's got interests and he buys things for himself sometimes, so look at those things.

I'm not saying that there aren't a few men who would like flowers, but they are the exception, not the rule.

I myself do love planting flowers. I have a variety of them in my yard. But as far as getting them, no. They don’t have that same feeling on a majority of men. Plus men know how exposure they are so we’d rather have something that will last a long time. Something that we could use regularly. It’s a nice gesture. Honestly I’d love an edible arrangement better. Had one of those at a potluck. Loved the chocolate dipped strawberries. All of it was good actually.

Guys aren't typically into flowers, but he'll appreciate the thought, I'm sure. It also depends on how you present the flowers, I imagine.

I'm gonna take a wild guess, but if you leave your shirt laying outside, on the ground in front of the front door, then your shorts just inside, then a cute bra on the floor in the hall leading to the bedroom, then your thong hanging on the door handle, and finally you on the bed with the petals of the bouquet covering you, that will likely be the perfect thing...

I have to say... I've never gotten a guy flowers. I've perhaps set flowers at the table for the guys in my family on their bdays and such, but generally there are better things to get a guy.

That would be nice. Rather than a bouquet of flowers that will die, I'd prefer a plant that I can plant outside (or maybe in doors) and take care of, as a symbol of our relationship for the future.

I love, love, love the idea. Give him a beautiful, medium sized bouquet.

I'm like your boyfriend. I don't particularly like gifts. They rarely are exactly what I want. That's why flowers are a perfect statement of your love. They're beautify and cheery. They won't last forever, but that's fine, too. Next year you can buy another arrangement.

I would appreciate the sentiment, but I'd tell her not to get me flowers again. It's a waste of money as they die in a couple weeks. If she was to get me anything, I'd prefer someone practical and long lasting. I'd honestly prefer a potted plant like aloe.

I would be indifferent. It's probably how you would feel if I gave you a table saw, torque wrench, saw horse... OTOH if someone sends flowers to my wife because someone died or she had to go to the hospital that means something to me and her. And I/we send flowers to others for such things sometimes.

Mine would. The flowers represent you so you are giving them a piece of your beauty. Just remember to put them in water because they probably won't. It's the initial receiving that they'll get. They might be forgotten when you go home, at least until the eater starts to smell.

The flowers mean nothing to me. She could gift me a handful of weeds. What matters is she took the time and thoughtfullness to gather them up for me. That says more to me than anything.

In other words don't get so hung up on WHAT you're gifting him. The actual flowers have no utility to a guy. It's the fact that YOU have them to him.

At one point in life id think that’s cheesy. But now, having a house, one of my favorite things to do on my weekend mornings is watering my garden while enjoying a cup of coffee. So yes, I’d be happy- especially if it’s ones I can plant.

In my honest opinion yes. I’d be amazed, since I like plants and flowers. I like perfume of smelly ones and maybe something colourful. But unluckily no girlfriend :(
