How do I figure out if my crush is single or not?

There's this cute girl in my class and I want to ask her out, but I don't know if she's single... and I don't want to make it uncomfortable for either of us. I provided options below that I consider doing

Hey man, asking a girl's single status can be tricky without coming off weird. Here's what I would do:

- Check her social media real quick. Sometimes it's obvious if a girl posts lots of pics with the same guy.

- Casually ask a mutual friend if they know her relationship status. Be chill about it though, like you're just curious, not trying too hard.

- Wait for a natural opening in convo with her to bring it up organically. Like if y'all are talking about dates or whatever, you could mention being single yourself to feel her out.

- Subtly ask what her plans are for next weekend or something. See how she talks about it - like "me and my boyfriend are doing XYZ" vs being ambiguous.

- Just ask her out and see how she responds. If she says yes cool, if not then at least you tried! Rejection ain't the end of the world.

I'd avoid straight up asking her to avoid awkwardness. Play it cool and one of those lowkey methods should help you figure it out, bro. Let me know how it goes!

Women want "Confidence" right? What I noticed that means in practice is a guy who is honest and up front in what he wants to achieve with her, showing her its safe to move towards him. You don't have to make it a big deal at all, just tell her that you like her and would love to go out. But ideally do so in private, don't do it in a situation where she feels pressured by others to act a certain way or feels like she has to proof something to her friends.

@sawno If they are interested, women make the first move all the time by smiling and saying "Hi' or otherwise doing something to indicate that you can approach. If that doesn't when they have opportunities, they are not interested and you should leave them alone.

Sure, you of course use it to gauge if she is open to a conversation. But first move some people take to mean that she will approach you herself. And that is not a sign the asker should wait for because she won't make the first move in the same fashion that a guy would make the opening move.
