Will cheap guys eventually become cheap to their partners?

I’m dating this guy throughout all our dates, he’s been generous with money. And even stops me when I offer to pay. He’s an engineer but doesn’t make much. He has told me that he’s really cheap though as in like waits until things are on big sale to get it and I notice he buys many things, even stuff he doesn’t need as long as it’s cheap. I don’t know how to feel about that. Will he eventually be cheap af with me? I’m not a gold digger
