Is being less available really work and attract them again?

i feel like guys particularly like the chase, so when he has a girls attention “too fast”, it’s kinda boring, or he just lose interest and pulls out. so when a girl act less interested, and is less available, does the guy realizes she’s not a option and try again?
PS: obviously ain’t saying all men r that way, and ain’t talking about playing games, but more about guys that seek validation, and when they have what they want, just leave. kinda frustrating for some girls.
