If she has a great personality and treats you well and stands by you , like you stand by her, has a great friendship with you , then yes it’s normal because looks aren’t everything , they matter to an extent but shouldn’t be the number 1 reason you are choosing to be with someone , her heart is really what matters. Everyone has a taste of what they look for in a partner. Some like really old women and men , some like big girls some like skinny. You may like the personality of a person even though they aren't that attractive and yes there are the shallow ones that feel the need to have to have a trophy partner to show off. We all look at someone's partner and think why is he/she dating that yuk but it's not our Business.
An example , look at Keanu Reeves and Alexander grant. She gets nasty comments said to her all the time that she's to ugly for Keanu and looks like a grandma because she embraced her grey hair at a young age but Keanu loves her so that's all that matters.
