Why do you cancel dates last minute or why do you refuse to go out with a guy you don't know that well if he is decent? Should I keep pursuing them?

Okay so I don't cancel last minute plans date or not... unless something major happened that I need to take care of. In that situation I always let the person know what is going on so they don't think I flaked. As for the second part of the question... how would I know a guy is decent if I don't know him well? That makes no sense. If I don't know him well I also don't know what type of person he is... decent or otherwise. I can only relate to the first question you ask about canceling plans. That has been so rare for me to have to do I can't even remember the last time it happened.

Decent like you know he is not dangerous. By not knowing him well I mean that you don't personally know him, but you have mutual friends or he seems like an intelligent guy with something going on for him

Okay... in that scenario that he is a friend of a friend or something similar... I might refuse for any number of reasons. I will give one example. There have been times in my life that dating just didn't fit. I had too many other things going on that dating wasn't a priority. So I might refuse on those grounds. Just because he is an intelligent guy and has some things going for him doesn't mean I owe him a date if I don't feel like dating.
