What’s the Difference with Friends With Benefits and a Relationship?

I was reading an article that said, friends with benefits go on dates, cuddle, kiss and are committed to each other.

Isn’t that a relationship?

Son’t understand.

I would never want to be anyone’s friends with benefits.

But I am just totally clueless what’s the difference

FWB’s is a relationship with less strings attached , FWB’s only works if the both of you , are on the same exact page with things. I been in a few FWB’s relationships with girl friends that we both agreed upon. We mainly did it , because we didn’t want to be tied down in a committed relationship right away , we just wanted to enjoy sex with each other without all the strings attached of a committed relationship , her and I , both just got out of committed relationship with our exes , and we both weren't ready to be tied down again , we just needed a break from committed relationships all together, mainly because we were still hurt and upset over our prior relationships with our exes , so we were just friends that enjoyed hanging out together and talking together about our personal lives and feelings , pretty much venting to each other about our selfish exes that broke our hearts . We both enjoyed each others’ company and both enjoyed talking to each other on a daily basis , Making each other laugh and being good friends with each other , we started to spend a lot of time together and we both knew we liked each other but we both knew we didn’t want to be in a committed relationship right away , but we both agreed that we missed having sex so we agreed just to have sex with each other with barely any strings attached. We both agreed to only have sex together but it was ok for us to date other people , and promised each other if we ended up in bed with someone else that we would end the benefits part between us and just remain friends. As long as you are both honest with each other , FWB’s isn’t a bad thing , it’s only a bad thing if one of you is lying I will only have a FWB’s if I feel she is completely honest with me and we are on the same exact page with things , that’s why I only been in a few FWB’s relationships , there would probably be more if most girls’ weren’t selfish liars . I’m sorry I don’t want to stick my dick into a girl that needs a bunch of other dicks inside of her , and I am pretty sure she doesn’t want my dick inside of her knowing I was inside a bunch of other

However, nowadays people tend to mix it up with adding additional date related activities into it. Usually they are not exclusive and don't share too personal details of each other.

Generally the term, relationship, refers to two people who are respectful towards each other and wants to exclusively explore each other more deeply. Their is feelings, emotions and love involved. Leading up to officially becoming exclusive, they go through a dating phase.

It’s all that minus being committed to each other. You can talk and date other people if you want. For some people, being in a committed relationship doesn’t make sense for them at the time.

Its wrong on the commitment part, with a friends with benefits there is no long term commitment and you are open about that up front. For example I had a friends with benefits online because while we got along perfectly we didn't expect a relationship to be possible with the distance. So the goal was to have each other as a relationship like companion until either of us found a suitable partner in real life. Turns out we were more compatible than we could ever have dreamed and there grew a bond between us unlike anything else. So we did transition into a proper relationship after realizing that nobody local could ever compare but were eventually proven right on the original assumption that the physical distance was to hard to bridge.

the difference I think is commitment to love that person. using someone requires no heart. Loving the person and their flaws and your own, that takes heart.

I always thought friends with benefits was basically just friends who just hang out like regular pals do but also just happen to have sex too. But other than that it's just a Normal friendship with no romantic commitment. What you described sounds exactly like a romantic relationship.
