Met a girl at a friend's house, we seemed to hit it off, but?

So in Nashville, I met this girl at a friend's house. Turns out, like me, she's a songwriter. We talked for a bit, seemed to hit it off really well, and the first night of that weekend sue gives me her number and says we should stay in touch. We hung out pretty much that entire weekend until she left town, which she plans on being back here in September permanently. I called her up a few days later to see how she was doing. She texts me back saying she's not romantically interested but still wants to be friends. What would you guys do in this situation?

Just bite the bullet and remain friends with her, or just brush her off completely and never maintain contact ever again?

Ah man, that's always a bummer when you think some vibes were happening but then get hit with the "just friends" text. Been there before too many times myself haha.

A couple things to think about - she said she's moving back in September right? So there's still a chance maybe her mind could change once she's settled in town. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that.

I'd say for now, don't cut her off completely but maybe give her some space too. You don't wanna come on too strong and make it weird. Play it cool like you're fine being buds. Then as it gets closer to September you could ask her to hang out again casually. See if she seems open to more after being apart.

Never know what could happen in a few months. People's feelings change. And it can't hurt staying on good terms, ya feel me? She could introduce you to other single friends once she's settled too. Always good to expand your circle!

So I say bite the friendship bullet for now. Then see where things stand down the line if she's really coming back like she said. Keep your options open man!

What’s your opinion about it? My view is that there is no reason not to be friends with people in general, and once she moves there, hang out like friends and if things do change… well great! However, if u can’t see her as a friend, then you have your answer.
