Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yWhen I was dating it wasn’t easier in the sense that oh she’s so gorgeous I just walked up to her w all this confidence. That part is still a little hard. But back than we actually talked. We hung out. We did things together. We didn’t text. We would sit there dialing her house number, nervous, hoping she would answer but hoping she wouldn’t because you were so nervous, worried about what to say. At the same time if someone did answer the phone you were hoping it was her, not her parents because that made you even more nervous. Especially if it was her dad. I could be a gentleman, open the door for her. Compliment her on her eyes, how good she smelled, etc. Nowadays you’re more concerned about being hit w sexual harassment. I remember just taking walks, w no destination in mind. We could have walked to the nearest actual town which was about an hour away if we wanted to. It wasn’t about the destination, it was just being together. Knowing that you both liked each other but still unsure to make a move or not even though she gave you all these green lights. She’d wear my hoodies, the scent of her body on it when she finally gave it back lol women back than were women. They didn’t have this entitled mentality. Boys actually did things for her. I earned her family’s approval by coming around more, helping out, whether that meant chopping wood for winter or throwing out the trash, cleaning up the yard, etc. She was respectful to my family. She’d help my mom cook, wash dishes, sit w my mom n talk while I was outside doing things for my mom like chopping wood lol I didn’t have to be concerned w her being on social media, that wasn’t even a thought back than. She appreciated everything I did for her. The drawings I drew for her. Walking about 3 miles just to see her when I didn’t have a way of getting there. As we got older when she knew I was coming over she’d get up to cook for me. She’d have food ready for me when I got there. At the same time I didn’t go empty handed. I always made sure to take things for them as well that my mom would send w me, like fresh baked bread, some meat for them to cook whenever. We’d stay up late watching my favorite movie, Toy Story. Lying on the couch together, nothing sexual. Just enjoying each other, holding her from behind.

Damn, dude. Why are you anonymous? This is beautiful.

That doesn't sound that much different than how I experience things today, other than the fact that we also communicate via social media and the worries about sexual harassment. But I'm sure it depends on the realm of existence in which one finds himself or herself.

+1 yI don't disagree with @Billlewis when he says that there are quite a few interesting women to select from, but I don't feel like it is the point where it is too much. I assume that what he meant is that there are too many eligible women out there. There's always quite a bit of chaff to sort through, but the wider the field that remains, the greater the chance that "the one" will happen to be contained therein.
And regarding the ease of meeting people, that just makes it so that looking for dates doesn't need to take up an undue proportion of one's schedule. In fact, with the ubiquity of electronic communication that exists now compared to twenty or thirty years ago, one can pretty much just set things in motion and then let it work mostly on its own thenceforth. Basically, just put it out there that you exist and let the women come to you. I don't really know as much as some people might, since I was in a relationship for a while and then when I no longer was, I didn't want to be in another relationship. But in the past few months I have gotten to the point where I am willing to invest in something long-term rather than casual encounters. Making that a new focus places further limitations on who may be suitable: someone might be acceptable to me to have a fling with but also lack the traits that would make me love a person for the long haul.
But I have had my eyes on someone who I thought would meet my standards, and have mostly told the rest of the women that I have someone else that I wish to focus my attention upon. It's always difficult to deny a pretty girl what she wants, but at the same time I feel like if I want to go back into a monogamous sort of existence, it might not be advisable to continue satisfying everyone who asks for it. I feel a bit bad for the women who may feel left high and dry without my attentions, but I have to consider my own goals. And it seems to be working thus far. She seems to feel strongly about me despite my unwillingness to make things physical right away. The foundation of a lasting relationship is an emotional connection, and it can be best in some cases to make sure that that much is well established in the beginning. It also gives more of a chance to make sure a woman isn't just using you for how you can please her sexually and not concerned about knowing you for who you really are on the inside.
This isn't that much different, really, than the way things used to be. But much of the interactions occur facilitated by means of a computer, though still with meetings in person once or twice a week or so. Gas is just too expensive anymore.

4K opinions shared on Dating topic. Where to start? No texting/sexting/emoji craze. No tinder/bumble/etc. just to meet the same pool of people you’d meet walking down to the corner and standing still.
Gentlemen were more readily available (but so were misogynists)… now most are in hiding and the brave ones are mostly married.
It’s the age of the egoist, the nihilist, the rationalist. No one wants to speak because they’ll be misunderstood. Simple human touch and physical communication has broken down because schools now teach that any physical contact is wrong, so many are now confused as to when it’s ok to touch even the person they love most deeply.
And certain industries previously considered taboo are all now running rampant while things like food shelter and basic clothing aren’t available to millions of people around the world….
Like Celine Dion, my heart can go on… but these are just a few. While we critiqued the past, we’re a more dysfunctional society now, particularly when it comes to dating.22 Reply- +1 y
What corner? Lol. That only works if you're a small town with one traffic light.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yHey sexy, dating today is like sticking your nose in a pile of spoiled fish and moldy cheese.

20-30 years ago, it was a lot more personable compared to the cesspool of stinky feet and garbage disposal that dating has become today.

People used to actually talk face to face and get to know each other, now it's all about swiping left and right if you want a.00001% chance to bury your nose in someone's armpit or sexual areas.

I long for the days when you could smell the putrid stench of a person in real life.

I'm not sure that I would say that that is what I have noticed in my experience.

@FatNeville Well, we're talking about the average guy here, not a mega stud like you, Sir. If we ask whether or not it's hard to run the 40 yard dash in under 4.5 seconds, an NFL receiver or cornerback would probably tell us it's a piece of cake... lol

@myloveforuisinfinte I intended to address that as a reply here, but the answer became so long that I just expanded a bit on it and turned it into an opinion proper, though it leaves some aspects of the original question unaddressed.

@Billlewis I'm flattered that you find an athlete's skills in running analogous to my skills with women.
- +1 y
@FatNeville Oh, not just any athlete, Sir. If I were to try to make an accurate comparison, I'd probably place you on a par with a Jerry Rice, Deion Sanders, etc. I'm somewhat taken aback that you could experience an emotion such as flattery. I would have expected you to say something like, 'I know', etc. But then, the biggest stars are often the most modest.

Still had to meet people just did it in person not online. Usually just hanging out around town. Instead of swiping you just drive to another place.20 Reply
+1 yIt has become a bit more complex and sex is made more casual. Different people expect different things and aren't always too honest about their needs so it creates sense of distrust as well.
