You'd probably have to find one of them to ask them. I'm not sure what their reasoning is.

Personally I draw the line at being able to tell the difference. I mean if someone had surgery and looked like the gender they intended to enough that I couldn't tell they'd had surgery, that'd be fine by me. The snag is that most transgender folk in the midst of transitioning look Uncanny Valley at best or outright disturbing at worst... and regardless what I might believe about rights, I don't stick dick in ugly.

Figure out the math and question me why anyone would do that if they didn't genuinely like them.

Could be that they really like them but some 'straight' people date transgenders because they want to experiment or have a fetish.

I haven't dated a transgender but I've met a few through friends of friends. The guys they date seem genuine. But they are also drop dead gorgeous, super nice and friendly.
