I would not dare a guy, however if this is purely army, then which branch, for example engineers tend to be very qualified, a lot to degree level, they have skills that readily transfer to civilian life and secure decent jobs.
If it is military in general, then the airforce has a large number of highly trained engineers, pilots, all of whom tend to have very good qualifications, all with decent job prospects.
Ditto with the navy.
Not sure why people tend to view the military as just Infantry, when it is far deeper than that and covers a huge range of skills sets.

From my experience, people go into the military for 2 reasons.
1) free education, and they don't have a career goal in mind so they sign up to gain experience and obtain education, training, for free (in Canada)
2) they HAVE to go, or do time in the military, like the marine core.
I wouldn't date a military man. The space wouldn't bother me, but unfortunately after their military time is complete, and they step out of it, they need to be re-trained in the real world with everyday people, learning how to treat the average citizen, while dealing with PTSD, mental health issues, depression, etc. depending on what their history in the military was.
They can also be recalled and drafted again, at any time without warning, so it's a huge commitment. If a man chooses to be in the military, i would let them focus on themselves and their career that takes up 90% of their life and time. I do not date military for personal preference reasons, based on many years of experience.
I would not because there are high rates of mental health trauma and violence after people go through something so difficult. I am not saying they do not deserve love, but I do not want to risk my happiness for them.
Plenty of women do, thus, this song...

What Girls & Guys Said

I used to be in the military, but since I'm a civilian I doubt I'd date a woman who is a servicemember.
I actually met a girl on a train once, whom was enrolling in the air force. The conductor/train attendant thought that me and this girl were together just because of the way the two of us alighted the train. Then I said to him "I appreciate it, but no" We just happened to be very stressed. She needed to be at the air base ASAP, and I had a transfer that I couldn't miss.
The train was significantly delayed, and I asked two train attendants if me and this girl could be let off the train. We were held at a red signal, at a station where the train usually doesn't stop, hence why the first conductor was so reluctant to let us off.
I think she (this girl I met) already had a boyfriend, though I didn't ask as I wasn't interested in her. I was too shy to approach her because a) this was during COVID, and b) I'm just shy in general.
Sorry if the structure of this story seems incoherent by the way, but I just remembered this when I saw this question.most women saying they wouldn't date a military man would gladly cheat with a military man and I've seen it with my own eyes
a lot of military men tend to be single but they still have high body counts which means they're either fucking single women or another man's girlfriend/wife
Would and have. I was an army brat so I think of them as regular people?
Not everyone knows what they want to do right out of high school. They don’t want to waste money so they join. Some people join because they’re army brats too. Some join for free training. There’s a lot of different reasons. Not everyone has to go ASAP. A lot go after separation. Active duty personnel are pushed to take college classes though. It's a hard life to choose a career military person as a life partner. Same goes for an first-responder as well. It's an uncertain future, which takes a very particular type of person to endure. I respect those who do choose to spend their lives supporting a person on those career paths. I'm not sure it would be for me... I've honestly never given it too much thought on a personal level.
My father is a master sergeant, my paternal grandfather was a captain and my maternal grandfather was a marine ( I can't remember his rank. ) I grew up an army brat. I have a great respect for the military. Some join for the honor of it. Some join because they are forced to. I do think they should get college credit for their m. o. s. training. You people really get f ed over when you get out.
As someone that tried to join but couldn’t, I can say for me it was a sense of pride in doing my part for my country. When I graduated high school they had just stopped the draft just before I turned 18. They were not taking anyone as the war was over and they were bringing the men home to finish their terms out.
Yes. I love men in law enforcement also. Very authoritative.
I'm married to a military man and love it! 💚
Also many men in the military are college educated or join for the free college
Nope, never. Most of those people end up psychotic.
No. I couldn't do it. It's a tough ask and I just can't live that life but I'm grateful for those that do.
Nah, that is a poor life choice
I would not. My brother was a Marine and said the rate of the men who cheated on their wives was ridiculously high.
My cousin is in army. His wife was having affair with someone else. Her boyfriend raped her when I was there.
She said not to tell anyone about this.
I would and I have.
I know many people do, but I wouldn't.
No. I like my men mental illness free
No, they spend too much time away.
