Does anyone actually think courting someone is still a good idea in 2024?

Courtship is more than just dating. The end goal is marriage. It is a process or really getting to take the time to know your partner, typically taking it slower than most people who engage in modern dating. It can involve family members approval or in some cases, even chaperoning for younger individuals.

I think a lot of people promote the idea of courtship to give themselves the ego boost of feeling they are superior to others. Otherwise you can court privately without broadcasting your chastity for millions of people to see so that you get honour and praise for being different from others. My pastor's wife was a virgin when she married him and they only discussed this fact once during their entire ministry career. It was not a sell out point of advertisement to make themselves seem more desirable as friends. The bible says God demotes people who do virtue signalling which is why people who sing gospel music on a public and fame oriented basis are more likely to divorce and cheat than people who are secretive about their religion.

This is my approach to dating, although most people my age don’t really have the same idea so it can be tricky but I’d like to get married young and I don’t like playing games with a lot of these boys who just want to sleep around 😅

"Courting" is a bit of a rigged word with implications to most people that likely don't appeal to them.
That aside, playing the long game is probably something more people ought to be doing, as the common trend of treating relationships as disposable is resulting in the degradation of society and accumulating distrust and resentment.

Chaperoning is a vestige of patriarchal societies. So is seeking family member approval. It goes back to a time when women were first property of their fathers then of their husbands.

So no, I don't think "courting" in that way is a good idea. Take away the patriarchy, and it's just dating.

Chaperoning is from a time when girls were marrying in their teens and virginity was prized. It was a way for a girls to spend time with a suitor without risking their reputation.

Majority of people do not consider marriage to be a good thing anymore so courting is going the way of the dinosaurs. Dating isn't even the same anymore. Relationships are more of a struggle now than they have been in the past. Divorces happen far more often than they used to thanks to no fault divorce and courts favoring women. Why would a man want to get married other than being told it's what he is supposed to do.
