Depends on what you are doing. I tend to ask girls out for a picnic on the first date, just some homemade biscuits, margarine, some coffee/tea or whatever they like.

So, I tend to suggest casual wear, something she is comfortable in, but not track-pants comfortable.

For a nice motorcycle ride obviously no shorts, flip flops.
Short track races, drag races, tractor pulls jeans, shirt, comfy shoes, out to dinner, dress for the restaurant.

Honestly you can never go wrong with a summer dress. If it's cold, put a jacket over the dress. To me, it's the most attractive thing a girl can wear and it's good for pretty much every occasion
