@1:18 of this video she shows a tiktok of a guy splitting the bill with the girl on a date. you can't see her face but see her putting a credit card inside a folder thing for the bill and it shows her nails. this woman content creator says she 'already paid' by getting those expensive nails done, also makeup, fancy dresses etc in order to look good for the date. Do you agree or disagree?

No, absolutely not! When I get dressed up for a date, and take a lot of time making sure my make up was absolutely perfect, (when I  was  dating), I did so because it made  me  feel good to present myself in public in a way that showed, not  just  my date, but anyone who looked at us, that I value  his  time and company as much as I hope he values mine! That’s it! No hidden transactional agenda, just an understanding that how much time you take on your appearance, is directly correlated to the amount you care about where you are and who you you’re with. But as you well know, beginning in the first semester of my undergrad, I’ve always paid for my  own  food and drinks on at least the first few dates. I just got sick and tired of hearing “do you have any idea how much I spent on you tonight? Whenever I said NO to going back to his place. All I could say was “That was  your choice ! I would have been happy with a casual jeans-date where we did some indoor rock climbing, and ate at Denny’s. You picked the restaurant"! Women are not for sale, a date is not payment for anything, women looking as good as we can on that date is not payment for anything, because dating is not transactional. On  our  first date, Lee took me for coffee, a few games of pool at the student union, and a walk around Green Pond in front of the student union, then we sat on one of the more secluded benches, away from the Reitz Amphitheater and talked for hours! The moon was reflecting in the pond, and it was just so freaking romantic, I kissed him. I paid for the coffee, he paid maybe $5.00 for the pool… The walk and the kiss were free!

Oh please I don't do any of that for the guy! It's for me and my peace of mind and relaxation.

I love feeling good about myself and self care is important.

Now I often consider what the man likes (his fav color, Is he a leg, boob or ass man?) and make my section base on his preference... But regardless whatever I choose is chosen because it pleases me!

That vid is just a lame excuse to get out of the bill.

Just because we are women doesn't mean we get a free pass.

I always offer to split but if a man insist and I mean insist on paying then I'll let him.

But regardless I don't mind splitting bills or paying for bills in an alternative taking turns sort of way.

I dress nicely bc I feel good about myself and how I am presenting myself to the world, as well as my date. I do my best to be good company so he feels good about spending his money to spend time with me. BUT, i would prefer dates in the beginning especially that are inexpensive and the focus is on spending time together. Take me to a hot dog stand and a ride on a Ferris wheel and next time, I’ll take you for ice cream and a bicycle ride around the lake. Then, if you really want my company at that fancy restaurant, I’ll happily agree and reciprocate with a picnic and visit to a museum or if I’m really feeling fiesta, it’ll be paintball…Better yet, a trampoline park!!

I get my nails done as I treat to myself and also because I used to bite my nails. It’s just been a habit ever since. As for the makeup and hair, I believe most girls who are level minded do it because we like the aesthetic component of it. Not necessarily we expect something in return but because it makes us feel good. With that in mind, I cannot speak for the whole population. There could be girls out there that do it because it’s their thing to expect a pay day.

Who takes a video like that on a date? Smacks of being staged to me.

But surely the point of a date is for the guy to prove he has enough disposable income to raise a family. Its the equivalent of birds bringing worms in the mating ritual. If he's broke, why's he even dating and why's she bothering with him?

As for clothes, make up etc a guy doesn't give a shit how much your nails cost, he's just amazed you actually agreed to come.

I'm not really an avid dater, but I would always expect to pay for my own stuff, so no.

Also, I'm not really someone who goes too much into dressing up with nails and a bunch of make-up and such.

I don't want to be a financial burden, especially on someone I barely know, and I also don't want him to hover it over my head and expect something from me because of that.

Disagree. Guys have to get dressed up too. Maybe not nearly as much as we do but they still have to put some effort into their looks on a date. Also, it should be expected for us to do all those things whether we're on a date or not. As women, we do that anyways.
