My wife calls me "babe" all the time. When she's at work and we talk on the phone, she automatically says "Hey, babe". From overhearing her, the guy who owns the salon where she rents a room thought my name was Babe before we were introduced. She didn't even realize that she was doing it so habitually. LOL
It doesn't bother me at all. It's just her term of endearment. Using my name all the time would seem kind of formal.
I often call her sweetheart or sweetie. Like "Hi, sweetheart" or "Hey, sweetie, what's up?" I even call her "babe" or "baby" once in a while.
Is your partner of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and out about it with this friend? If so, likely, no problem that it's likely platonic friendly banter. If not, likely, there's some interest to bang between the two of them or either one at some point. Not gonna lie. If a relationship is getting stale before or even at 7 years. it's common to have men flirt shamelessly like this and either not follow through or go all the way, rarely neither—unless he's of the aforementioned group.
If he didn't tell you he was gay or other, well, maybe it's time to sit down and have a chat about where the relationship is headed, if at all it's going somewhere.
Yeah that's inappropriate
