Why would people flirt in workplace?

these type of things keep happening to me.


Okay here s what happened:

i ve been working in this company for around a year. When i first got here there s a guy (i would call him A) in finance department, a manager, and the boss s brother.

there s a HR , really like gossiping, keeps telling me to consider dating A. I was like “ i dont know him at all” then she even started thinking about planing on a hangout/event. I casually rejected.


One time we were in a Christmas party at the office. He did sths and said something that made others thought he was defending me. Then the people started smiling at me.

but i dont think i can date people from my workplace. It might turn into nightmares… or it could be a trap so they can make fun of me.

I ignored them for months. Then they started calling me arrogant / waiting for people to chase. I was annoyed so i told them i reached out to a speed dating company. They have stopped.


RECENTLY THEY STARTED IT AGAIN. And one person sent me pic of him talking to another girl told me to make a move or else it will be too late. I was little bit sad at the beginning but now i m alright.

I think honestly it’s a bit toxic way of flirting. There are different ways to do that and this one seems more done without a direct approach, seems you and the infamous A almost never talked.
He simply created a lore and all hype with colleagues, it’s more a way to create some form of clamour and gossip than other. Maybe your colleagues have too little work to do?


He exploits this situation to gain popularity, while I see you’re not even interested in him. Other colleagues are only gossipers who want something to happen, they seem the snooping aunt asking “what about the boy/girlfriend?” at family dinners.


Honestly, I think those things will decrease gradually with time, you just have to keep ignoring them. When they will see their stupid game failing due to a lack of action from your side.
Let them be, and you’ll see all this going down.

Yea that’s exactly how i feel.
If his intention is simple, he likes me , he would have asked me out and talked privately.
He made all these shits hints just to hurt my feelings.
This situation , this place is toxic af.

Yes, exactly, if he was interested for real, he would have done something to approach you or maybe would have talked to colleagues to create some situations where you two could talk.
I’m sorry this all has created around you without your willing, I hope this situation will solve soon… or they’ll find their next victim.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with flirting. That’s how people meet each other whats the problem you must not like the guy that’s why it’s a turn off to you.
