LDRs traditionally don't work unless the couple is actively seeing one another every few weeks. It's a strain on both people even without this extra factor you're mentioning.

Why do you think she's obsessed with him? What's she saying about him that has you worried? I ask because guys in an LDR seem to get very uptight about the merest mention of any other guy orbiting around their girl even if the girl is not interested in the other guy (s). I had the benefit of one very self-assured LDR partner years ago and I can tell you that the experience can be wonderful, though strenuous. Mutual trust is the key. By contrast, I recently had an LDR experience that failed partially bc the fellow could not grasp the concept that my mentioning another guy doesn't mean I'm interested in the guy.
