For the same reasons anyone wants to date anyone else; few have much to do with age.

Now, there are age-related reasons it might be less likely to work out, but 1. those are obstacles, not impossibilities (and theoretical obstacles, at that), and 2. they won't stop anyone from wanting it in the first place.
