Should I just move on?

I'm 37 and he's 31 I met a guy at the end of May he and I have been on 10 dates since then. We hit it off and things were great we seemed compatible. Recently he told me that he needed to focus on work and saving up to get his place because he didn't like meeting up at hotels just to be intimate. (he lives with his mother and we met up at a hotel once) And that he couldn't afford it anymore being as though he's on medical pay. He said he liked me and that he enjoyed spending time with me. I told him if he's still interested to contact me when he gets his place. And he said absolutely and that he didn't want things to end on bad terms with us. He said he wasn't going to date because the same thing would just happen again (The issue with him not having his place).

I'm not going to wait on him but should I just forget him completely? Like blocking him on social media and via my phone?

The reason he stated could be an excuse but it may be legit. At this point, if he contacts you again, how will you know if he wants to pursue a relationship or if he just wants sex?

I'm not saying he's lying I know he doesn't have his own place. And I know he's on medical leave he told me about this when we first met. How will I know if he wants to pursue a relationship or just sex? He said he liked spending time with me and we seemed to hit it off. But I'm not waiting around for him so I could have met someone else by then.

Since he doesn't have money for a hotel room, there is no sense in continuing to date. That's one interpretation of this situation and that doesn't sound good. If you have met his mother. . . okay, but of you haven't, maybe the woman he is living with is a girlfriend or wife.

Perhaps you shouldn't have gotten sexual with him until you felt more confident about the direction the relationship was going.

However, all of this speculation and he could be sincere and legit. That is for you to decide, and if you think he's okay, why block him?

No, it is actually his mother it isn't his girlfriend. We didn't actually even have sex because he couldn't stay erect.

Then it may be a legit reason - at least in his mind -but. . . during the early covid days, there was a lady I had just met, dated twice, before the lockdown started. Restaurants and movie theatres were closed but we were allowed to go to the grocery store. I met her a few times at a grocery store and sat and had a cup of coffee with her, or we went shopping together at Costco. You don't need money or fancy dates if you want to keep something alive.

Maybe he is suffering from depression and dating is too stressful for him. Or maybe he is embarrassed about his sexual performance.

I don't think blocking is really needed. It sounds like he just needs space. Are you two exclusive? If so, then you can wait for him a little (like 2-3 weeks max) and then let him know you're moving on if you don't hear from him.

Well, I wouldn't wait up for him, but if you're still single once he has his own place you can meet up again. No one can tell from that if he just wants sex or more.
